In the head of the Langolier: Baldur’s Gate

As you may have heard, this summer will mark the return of an old favourite – Baldur’s Gate. Fans of the original series will remember it fondly, as does our cartoon videoblogger, Crass Langolier – so much so, in fact, that he’s devoting  a double episode entirely to Baldar’s Gate II. Why not the original you ask? Well, Crass will get to that. This week, his bar full of misfits entertains a special guest, self-proclaimed Baldur’s Gate expert Drenn, who will be enlightening first time players as to some of the features BG has to offer.

In this first episode they’ll be taking a look at character creation and some gameplay. This episode does contain spoilers, but hey, the game isn’t exactly new on the scene!

If this is all news to you, you may be happy to hear that Atari, Wizards of the Coast, and Overhaul Games are releasing Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition sometime soon. It will be available for PC, Mac and iPad, with cross-platform multiplayer compatibility. Here’s what their website has to say:

Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition runs on an upgraded and improved version of the Infinity Engine. It includes the entire Baldur’s Gate adventure, the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion pack, and never before seen content including a new adventure and a new party member. The Enhanced Edition will include a variety of Mac OS X specific features, including widescreen and iCloud support.

The game will also have a new soundtrack, composed by Sam Hulick, whose other work includes music for the Mass Effect Series, and last month it was announced that fantasy writer Dave Gross has also joined the team. Even better, it won’t cost you more than ten bucks!

That’s not all though – an enhanced edition of Baldur’s Gate II is also in the works.
